Israel has ordered its military to stop a humanitarian ship carrying activists, including the Swedish climate campaigner Greta Thunberg, which is attempting to break the Gaza Strip blockade.

Israeli Defence Minister Israel Katz instructed the IDF on Sunday to prevent the Madleen flotilla from reaching the war-torn enclave.

"Turn back because you will not reach Gaza," Katz said, calling the activists "Hamas propaganda mouthpieces".

He added: "Israel will not allow anyone to break the naval blockade of Gaza, which is aimed at preventing weapons from reaching Hamas, a murderous terrorist group holding our hostages and committing war crimes."
