BOSTON —
A large tree fell in South Boston early Friday morning, damaging homes, taking down power lines and crushing a pickup truck.
Shortly after 5 a.m. Friday, Boston police said they received a call reporting that a large tree fell down and was blocking the road in the area of 392 K St.
When officers arrived at the scene, they assessed the damage but said there were no reported injuries.
Officers notified the Boston Public Works Department to assist in removing the tree, who were at the scene all day chopping up the tree.
The sound of the massive elm falling woke up residents of the area.
"In the morning, we heard a large boom," resident Amanda Janowicz said. "We looked out the window and saw the tree was down."
According to Eversource, several customers in the area lost power.
