CAPITAL REGION, NY (WRGB) — The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation and the Department of Health have issued an air quality health advisory.
The advisory was issued due to fine particulate matter from the smoke from wildfires in Canada.
The Air Quality Health Advisory regions consist of: Upper Hudson Valley, which includes Albany, Columbia, Fulton, Greene, Montgomery, Rensselaer, Saratoga, Schenectady, Schoharie, and Washington counties.
The Air Quality Index from the DEC shows Upstate and Western New York are in the orange zone, meaning the air is unhealthy for sensitive groups.
The advisory is in effect until midnight.
