Work is expected to begin soon to repair the unsafe walls of two buildings in downtown Tilbury.

The property owner representatives for 44 and 55 Queen St. N. have provided their work plan to the Municipality of Chatham-Kent to address structural issues that were identified when buildings at 47 and 49 Queen St. N. were undergoing demolition, said municipal officials in a media release.

Noting a large portion of the debris at 47 and 49 Queen St. N. has been removed, municipal officials said, “Building permits have been issued in coordination with structural work, which is expected to begin in the near future.”

The issue stems from complaints received by municipal building services in 2022 regarding a collapsing building at 47 and 49 Queen St. N., said municipal officials.
