B.C. RCMP say a 66-year-old driver was issued a more than $500 fine after crashing his pickup truck into the galley ramp of a BC ferry.
The driver wasn’t injured, but the Dodge pickup was “heavily damaged” following the Friday, June 6, incident on the Malaspina Sky vessel, according to RCMP.
Powell River RCMP was notified around 7:30 a.m.
The ferry provides regular service between Sunshine Coast (Earls Cove) and Powell River (Saltery Bay), and RCMP Cpl. Alex Bérubé says several sailings were delayed while the truck was removed and the vessel underwent a structural inspection.
BC Ferries took to X on Friday, saying the 7:25 a.m. sailing from Saltery Bay and the 8:20 a.m. from Earls Cove were cancelled due to a medical emergency.
