PETROLIA – The annual town-wide pizza party here on Saturday got off to a hot start.
Just two and a half hours into the event, officials announced they’d already gone through 2,000 slices.
“It’s going well,” town spokesperson Laurissa Ellsworth said.
Saturday marked the 12 th edition of Petrolia Pizzafest, a yearly gathering celebrating the town’s love for the food. Doors to the free-admission event in Victoria Park, featuring all seven of the town’s pizzerias, opened at noon. Each slice was available for $2.50 each.
The pizza party typically goes through about 7,000 slices each year and there was a thought that mark could get well surpassed this time around.
“I hope so. That would be good,” Ellsworth said.
