Fire investigators are trying to determine the cause of a blaze that destroyed a detached residential garage in Port Alberni Saturday afternoon.

Port Alberni crews say they arrived at the scene in the 3900 block of Anderson Avenue at 3:24 p.m. Saturday, June 7, and put the fire out in about 10 minutes.

The fire happened in a residential area, and a photo posted on the fire department’s X account showed a large plume of black smoke spewing from the property.

“PAFD, Cherry Creek Fire Department, Sproat Lake Volunteer Fire Department & Beaver Creek Volunteer Fire Department responding to a structure fire in the 3900 block of Anderson Ave,” reads the post from Saturday. “Please avoid the area.”
