With 28 wildfires actively burning across Manitoba — several large and out of control — provincial officials continue to urge residents to respect evacuation orders and adhere to fire restrictions. The Manitoba Wildfire Service and the Office of the Fire Commissioner remind the public that early re-entry into evacuated areas poses serious risks to emergency responders and can delay firefighting efforts.

The province has recorded 114 wildfires so far this season, surpassing the five-year average of 99 by this time in June. Many of the current fires are significant in size and continue to grow. Fire EA061, located between Bird River and Bissett, has expanded to approximately 203,720 hectares — nearly five times the size of Winnipeg.
