ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) – Gary Waldrep was texting his friend moments before a large tree crashed into his friend’s home.
“He was sitting in the living room and was texting me. He said, ‘Oh my God, I got hit. By a chandelier, and then the roof caved in and then the attic caved in on top,’” said Waldrep.
Waldrep said his friend is now in the hospital with a mild concussion, but will be okay. However, he still has four pets that are missing.
“He says, ‘I’m really worried about my cats. My cats are my life. I have seven of them, I found three of them,’” said Waldrep.
This is just one remnant of a powerful thunderstorm system that rolled through north Georgia.
In Polk County, it left trees littered on roads and in yards. Damage could also be seen from East Point to Roswell.
