SANTA CRUZ, Calif. (KION-TV) -- After a long hiatus, salmon fishing opened back up for a short window, allowing many recreational fishers to head back out to sea. David Everett, a recreational fisherman, says, “ we haven't been able to fish for salmon for a few years now, so it's good that we got to catch a few.”

For the first time since 2022, many fishermen around the Santa Cruz harbor had the chance to cast their lines, looking to catch some salmon. Many said they enjoyed being out, while some others were disappointed it was only for a few days.
