OMAHA, Neb. —

Reports and social media posts reveal attacks started up again in South Sudan, Africa.

In response, the South Sudan Council of Churches coordinates with other organizations to raise money to support displaced people.

On Sunday, the Nile Lutheran Church opened its doors to the local community for an emergency fundraiser to help people in South Sudan.

The church is one of many that participate in this worldwide charity event. Organizations in Canada, Australia and various other American states gathered virtually for this event.

“The president of the country killing his own people, and nobody is talking about it,” the emcee of the fundraiser, Miyong Kuon, said.

He said the attacks on South Sudanese people began in January.
