Voters in some local West Virginia communities on Tuesday will go to the polls to elect mayors, council members and other municipal officials.

Ohio County sees only one municipal race, and it is for Valley Grove Village Council. There are eight candidates in the race, with seven to be elected. They are Sheila Everhart, Chad Kleeh, DeNean Miller, Tim Miller, Darlene Philabaum, Wendy Pearson, Steve Riggs and Gerry Trager Sr.

In Brooke County, there is an election happening in Bethany, but none of the races are contested. Running unopposed are Thomas Furbee, for mayor; Helen Moren, for recorder; and five candidates for council — Patrick Sutherland, Kevin Clancy, Jay Eisenhauer, Jan Forsty and Jennifer Knisley.
