A murder investigation is stepping up after a boy died in north Manchester.

Emergency services were called out to Nevin Street, in New Moston , at around 5pm on Sunday evening (June 8).

A large police presence surrounded the street and the nearby Fairway Inn , on Broadway, following the incident.

The victim, who is thought to be as young as 13, is believed to have been attacked in the vicinity of the pub.

He was then seen running to Nevin Street, shouting for help.

Greater Manchester Police confirmed that the boy had tragically died in a statement on Sunday night.

Detectives are still working to establish the full circumstances of what had happened.
