CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WCHS) — After the prosecuting attorney in Raleigh County appeared on national news, warning women in West Virginia who have miscarriages that they could face criminal charges, the West Virginia Prosecuting Attorneys Association is speaking out against his claims.
Raleigh County Prosecuting Attorney Tom Truman recently told CNN that although he wouldn’t prosecute someone for a miscarriage, he made the suggestion out of an abundance of caution after hearing from other prosecutors. He warned that women could be charged under state laws related to the disposal of human remains.
