PORT ANGELES — A woman was arrested Saturday evening for suspected arson after a fire broke out in her apartment unit on the west side of Port Angeles.

Police and fire crews responded around 7:10 p.m. on June 7 to a report of a fire at an apartment complex in the 2200 block of West 16th Street. When officers arrived, they found the woman — the sole occupant of the unit — outside the building.

Firefighters located a gas can inside the bedroom near the origin of the blaze. Investigators determined there was probable cause to arrest 36-year-old Ashley Ennen for first-degree arson. She was taken into custody after a brief struggle with officers and booked into the Clallam County Jail.
