LAREDO, Tex. (KGNS) - A house fire broke out around 1 a.m. Sunday in Zapata County and burned for at least six hours before being fully extinguished.

The fire occurred near the intersection of 14th Street and Kennedy Street. Fortunately, no one was inside the home at the time.

Due to the fire’s intensity, the Zapata County Fire Department brought in additional personnel and received support from the Webb County Volunteer Fire Department, including two borrowed trucks.

Authorities say the situation was made more dangerous by a hoarder-type environment inside the home, which increased risks for firefighters.

All crews cleared the scene by 7 a.m.
