PHOENIX (AZFamily) — Dozens of people gathered at the state capitol Sunday evening to protest against immigration policies and deportations.

This comes as protests have broken out in Los Angeles against federal immigration authorities seeking to carry out deportations. President Donald Trump deployed 2,000 California National Guard troops over the governor’s objections to where protests led to clashes.

So far, the protest in Phoenix has been peaceful. Many people have signs expressing solidary with those in Los Angeles. There is a strong police presence in the area, including at the state capitol.

Most of the immigration protests in Arizona have remained peaceful, but tensions flared during one immigration protest in downtown Phoenix last month.
