Meharry Medical College will establish Memphis programs.
The local historically Black medical school is opening its Office of Memphis Programs, according to a press release. This office will provide training and job opportunities for Meharry students as well as offer programming for youth interested in the medical field.
The news follows Meharry having announced in April that it acquired four Memphis clinics to allow for student learning opportunities in Shelby County. The clinics are now part of the Meharry Health Network and the deal was facilitated by MMCV Inc., a wholly owned Meharry subsidiary focused on business and investment efforts. Meharry has also made an agreement with Methodist Le Bonheur Healthcare to provide hands-on training for students.
