COLUMBIA, S.C. (WIS) - State authorities in South Carolina said a fugitive was taken into custody after crossing state lines.

The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division said 25-year-old Tyzhaun Carney was arrested in Richland County after fleeing from Charlotte, North Carolina.

SLED said Carney was wanted for involuntary manslaughter and other “numerous charges.”

An arrest warrant states Carney was also charged in South Carolina as a fugitive on June 2, saying “he did willfully and unlawfully enter the state of South Carolina while fleeing and avoiding prosecution from the state of North Carolina.”

SLED said its investigation was first requested by the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department.

Carney is being held in the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center while he awaits extradition.
