Olympic National Park – The search continues for a person that witnesses said fell into the Sol Duc River on Sunday.

Olympic National Park officials have not yet released the identity of the person pending notification of next of kin.

Witnesses said that at about 12:48pm Sunday, they saw the person attempt to move between the rocky outcroppings, slip into the falls, resurface, then submerge again.

The park’s search and rescue efforts began on Sunday with their swiftwater team, technical rescue team, and a ground team. Also helping with the search are Forks Ambulance, Forks swiftwater, Olympic Ambulance, Clallam County medics, Clallam 2 Fire Rescue, and a Clallam County Sheriff’s Office drone operator.
