HORRY COUNTY, S.C. (WBTW) -- Jury selection took place Monday in the murder trial of Meagan Jackson for her alleged role in the 2020 Horry County killing of Gregory Rice, the father of her four children.

Opening statements are scheduled for 9:15 a.m. Tuesday, the 15th Circuit Solicitor's Office told News13. Jackson is accused of killing Gregory Vincent Rice in October 2020.

Rice’s body was found in the Little Pee Dee River on Nov. 8, 2020. Jackson’s boyfriend at the time of the killing — Christopher Dontell, a one-time Horry County deputy coroner — is awaiting sentencing after striking a plea deal with prosecutors in early December in which he agreed to testify against Jackson. Dontell and Jackson were arrested in November 2020.
