WHITFIELD COUNTY, Ga. — A 32-year-old man is dead after being shot by law enforcement when he pointed a gun at them during a drug investigation on Tuesday, according to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation.

It happened around 10:40 p.m. during an undercover narcotics investigation involving Dalton Police Department detectives and Whitfield County Sheriff's Office investigators along River Road near Boyes Mill Road in Dalton.

When investigators attempted to arrest the man, identified as Johnathan Zuccarini, he allegedly pulled out a small handgun and pointed it at the investigators.

A Dalton Police detective and two Walton County Sheriff's Office investigators shot Zuccarini, according to both law enforcement agencies.

He was taken to the hospital, where he later died.
