RUTHERFORD COUNTY, Tenn. (CNN) – A runaway zebra in Tennessee was captured Sunday after more than a week on the loose.
During the search, the zebra got plenty of attention on social media, getting transformed into memes and getting the nickname “Ed.”
“Ed” even prompted a closure on a section of a Tennessee interstate.
The zebra was eventually captured in a field about 45 miles south of Nashville, flown to an animal trailer and returned to its owners.
The Tennessee Highway Patrol, the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency and other agencies were involved in the operation.
The owners say the pet zebra escaped a day after they got it.
And yes, believe it or not, it is legal to own a zebra as a pet in Tennessee.
