LAREDO, Tex. (KGNS) - As immigration enforcement actions spark protests across the country , Laredo Mayor Dr. Victor Treviño says he’s closely watching the situation at home.

As a border city, Laredo has been in regular talks with Customs and Border Protection (CBP) and Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) to stay informed and ready, according to the mayor.

Treviño stated that Laredo remains one of the safest cities in Texas, crediting strong partnerships with law enforcement, including CBP.

The mayor also stressed the importance of peaceful protest, noting that while demonstrations are allowed, they must remain nonviolent.
