The Department of Homeland Security recently released a list of sanctuary jurisdictions, including most counties in Washington, reportedly due to conflicts between state and federal immigration laws.
Franklin County was quick to express full support for the enforcement of all federal immigration laws, including those of President Trump's administration. Benton County also stated it is not a sanctuary jurisdiction and follows both state and federal laws.
Yakima County was one of only four Washington counties not on the list, although the city of Yakima was included. Yakima County Commissioner Amanda McKinney emphasized the need for President Trump to know he has support in Washington and stated that people need to stand against state government.
