DYER CO., Tenn. (WMC) - The supervisor who commanded the arrest of Jackson Hopper is now the seventh law enforcement officer facing criminal charges related to his capture.
The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation announced Monday that an indictment has been returned charging 60-year-old Dyer County Deputy Larry “Lynn” Waller with official misconduct.
Waller is free on a $25,000 bond after turning himself in to the Dyer County Jail on Monday.
Waller’s arrest is the latest in a string of indictments alleging excessive force in Hopper’s arrest on October 19.
Hopper is accused of going to Shelby Farms Park in Memphis earlier that day to shoot and kill his 22-year-old ex-girlfriend, Ellie Claire Young, who was there volunteering for an annual Breast Cancer Awareness Walk.
