Miley Cyrus is opening up about how her public persona has affected her love life over the years, often at great cost.

The “Flowers” singer said that a particularly provocative period of her life, when she was making the 2013 album “Bangerz,” caused her relationship with her then-fiance, Liam Hemsworth , to derail.

“When me and Liam split up the first time with ‘Bangerz,’ it was because it was like, I was this provocateur and it was highly sexualized,” Cyrus said during a candid sit-down with the “Every Single Album” podcast last week.

She then contrasted that image with the one she tried to cultivate during her 2017 album “Younger Now,” when she and Hemsworth were back together.
