MOREHEAD CITY, N.C. (WITN) - After a rocky start with rough water conditions and no blue marlin brought to the scales yesterday, teams participating in this year’s Big Rock Blue Marlin Tournament are back for another day of action.
Big Rock officials say the 32 teams expected to cast their lines today could run into some choppy waters.
43 of 272 boats took part in day 1 of the competition yesterday, which runs through Saturday.
Officials say that, despite no blue marlin being weighed in at the scales, there were multiple hookups.
A total of 17 billfish were released, including twelve blue marlin, four sailfish, and one white marlin.
Eight dolphins were weighed in yesterday afternoon.
