The toe injury that hampered Cleveland’s Darius Garland in the NBA playoffs this season may impact the start of the Brentwood native’s 2025-26 season as well.
The Cavaliers announced Monday that Garland underwent successful surgery to repair an injury to his left big toe, one that kept Garland from participating in four playoff contests.
Garland will follow a progression of treatment and rehabilitation over the next four to five months, per the team, which also said the 25-year-old is expected to make a full recovery and resume basketball activities by the start of training camp.
But Cleveland’s training camp is scheduled to begin Sept. 30 and the NBA regular season starts Oct. 21, so it remains to be seen how well Garland’s recovery timetable jibes with those dates.
