Vanderbilt pitcher Austin Nye has been named a second-team freshman All-American by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association.

Nye is the first Vandy freshman to earn NCBWA freshman All-America recognition since Carter Holton in 2022. Other Commodores who’ve been so honored include Enrique Bradfield, Jr.; Austin Martin; Bryan Reynolds; Kevin Ziomek; and T.J. Pecoraro.

A 6-2, 205-pound right-hander, Nye made 15 starts this season, posting a 2-1 record with a 3.55 ERA. The California native recorded 58 strikeouts in 50-2/3 innings, allowing 41 hits, 20 earned runs and 22 walks. Opponents batted just .229 against Nye this season.
