Country musician Conner Smith was behind the wheels during a car accident that left and elderly woman dead in Nashville on Sunday night.

According to Metropolitan Nashville Police Department , the 24-year-old was driving his Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck when it struck 77-year-old Dorothy Dobbins in a crosswalk around 7:30 p.m. CT. She was was taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center where she was pronounced dead.

Smith, who was back in his hometown for the CMA Fest, was not injured.

Authorities said the driver showed no signs of impairment but the preliminary cause of the crash was Smith “failing to yield the right of way” to the pedestrian.

As of Monday, no charges had been filed.
