LAFAYETTE COUNTY, Miss. (WMC) - The judge has granted a venue change requested by Timothy Herrington, the suspect accused of killing Ole Miss student Jimmie “Jay” Lee.

Timothy Herrington, the suspect accused of murdering fellow Ole Miss classmate Jimmy “Jay” Lee, was newly indicted on a two-count capital murder charge connected to the death of Lee after remains were identified in early February.

Filing a motion for venue change , Herrington cited the extensive news coverage, social media posts, and negative publicity as reasons for the need for a new trial venue.

On June 9, the judge granted Herrington’s request, and a new location will be selected before the trial.
