Two people were found dead later afternoon June 8 in Isle Royale National Park, located in Lake Superior north of Michigan's Upper Peninsula.
Park rangers hiked overnight to a remote campground and got there Monday morning, June 9. More support, both on the ground and by air, then arrived.
Park authorities sent out a release Tuesday , but kept the information limited. They have not released the name, gender or cause of death for either victim. The park did not immediately respond to phone messages requesting more information. Meredith Mingledorff, comunications lead for the Midwest region of the National Park Service, said she had no further information to release and that the deaths were under investigation.
Isle Royale National Park is an island with 450 smaller islands around it.
