There were times in past years when Jeffery Simmons would chide those who asked about his sack numbers, reminding observers that pressures also played a significant role in impacting quarterbacks.

The Titans’ three-time Pro Bowl defensive tackle struck a different chord Tuesday, however, following Tennessee’s first minicamp practice.

This season, he said he will be more focused than ever on finishing the job.

That’s encouraging news for the Titans, who finished tied for 29 th in sacks (32) last season, posted a 16.7 percent pressure rate that was 31 st in the league, and earned a team-wide 62.1 pass-rush grade from Pro Football Focus — which ranked tied for 28 th in the league.
