OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) - Douglas County Commissioners heard from people who want the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office Special Operations Group to be cut out of the Sheriff’s proposed budget for the next fiscal year.
The budget proposal came to the commissioners Tuesday morning, more than $750,000 heavy.
“The murder of Janidi Ibrahim was unacceptable, inexcusable, and deeply traumatic for the residents of our county and beyond, and what was the point of it? Are we supposed to feel safer with one less teenager?" asked Kyra Britt of Omaha.
There are people in the Metro still upset over the sheriff’s office deputy-involved shooting that left 19-year-old Ibrahim dead.
The deputy who fired the shots, Sgt. Jesse Ronk, is a member of the Special Operations Group (SOG). No charges will be brought
