ATLANTA — Actor and entertainer Jamie Foxx gave a heartfelt and emotional speech at the BET Awards Monday night after he won the Ultimate Icon Award.

In the speech, Foxx alluded to the health scare he had while filming in Atlanta back in April 2023 that left him unable to walk. For months, Foxx's health scare was not publicly known, and then it was later revealed he had a stroke and doesn't remember anything for 20 days.

"Man, we used to take this thing for granted that 'God is good,'" Foxx began in the speech. "I cannot even begin to express the love that I feel from everybody out there... 'When I saw that In Memoriam, 'I was like, man, that could have been me.'"
