Frederick Mayor Michael O'Connor on Tuesday vetoed the Fiscal Year 2026 city budget passed by the City Council, which cut over $3 million from the budget proposal he put forward.

The council cut the entirety of a tenure-based pay increase for 269 city employees at $940,000 across all city funds, all new proposed positions for the city at around $900,000, a $700,000 nonprofit emergency fund and more.
