MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) - A deputy from Dyer County is on leave as a state investigation examines sexual assault allegations linked to a traffic stop during his time as a police officer last fall.

The Dyer County Sheriff’s Office and Tennessee Bureau of Investigation report that 36-year-old Jared Wayne Willicutt, who presently serves as a school resource officer for Dyer County Schools, has been indicted on charges of official misconduct, official oppression, and sexual battery.

Willicutt turned himself in to the Dyer County Jail on Tuesday and is currently free on a $25,000 bond. The sheriff’s office says he is currently on leave pending the outcome of the investigation.

The alleged incident took place back on October 7 when Willicutt was employed at the Newbern Police Department.
