Lawmakers received a state budget briefing Tuesday, with a gap in spending priorities between the House and Senate.
One sticking point is expected to be retirement benefits for first responders.
Group II employees who are set to receive a boost to undo changes made over the past decade .

"The Group II retirement change, that is a $13 million difference," said legislative budget assistant Michael Kane. "The House appropriated $27.5 million a year, the Senate delayed implementation of the retirement change, and they took a $13 million savings."
Budget negotiations are expected to intensify next week.
