Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass has imposed a curfew for parts of downtown Los Angeles after several days of protests targeted at U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement ( ICE ) raids, some of which turned violent.
The curfew took effect at 8 p.m. PT and applies until 6 a.m. PM, covering a roughly one square mile area between the 5 Freeway, 110 Freeway and 10 Freeway. Authorities have warned the curfew could be in place for several days.
Those who live or work in the area covered by the curfew are exempt.
Mayor Bass said: "If you do not live or work in downtown LA, stay away."
This is a developing story and will be updated.
