Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent faced his second reprimand of the day for interrupting women lawmakers.

At a House Ways and Means Committee hearing on Wednesday, Bessent spoke over Democratic Rep. Stacey Plaskett of the Virgin Islands as she pointed out that gas prices had increased under President Donald Trump.

"Ma'am, that's incorrect," Bessent said.

"Excuse me, let me, let me, let me get something straight with you first here," Plaskett shot back. "I've seen you interrupt everyone. When you come to someone's house, you respect their rules. And in this house, we don't interrupt individuals, and you're not going to interrupt my time."

"You may want to jot down some notes about things that you don't agree with me on so that you can respond to them," she continued. "But while I'm speaking, as the person holding this time, you will refrain from speaking, sir, until I am done, until I am done, and then I will give you time to speak, okay?"

"Look forward to facts," Bessent quipped as the chair banged the gavel.

"I'll look forward to your response, whether they're factual or incorrect, either," Plaskett retorted.

Earlier in the hearing, Bessent interrupted Rep. Linda Sanchez (D-CA).

"But please don't interrupt me during my time," Sanchez told Bessent. "Okay, I know I'm a woman, but please try to limit yourself to answering my questions."
