A 45-year-old Trenton man was sentenced to life in prison for killing a fellow inmate at Bayside State Prison, the Cumberland County Prosecutor's Office said Tuesday.

Bruce Duette was found guilty of murder May 29. The life sentence will run consecutive to his current prison sentences, which are set to end in March 2030.

On Nov. 21, 2022, investigators responded to a homicide at the prison in Maurice River Township. Martin Sanchez was found unresponsive in his cell with severe injuries to his face. He was pronounced dead at the facility, the Prosecutor's Office said in a news release. The medical examiner determined the manner of death to be homicide, with the cause blunt force head injuries and neck compression.
