LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - City officials, faith leaders and community members came together following the mass shooting in Lexington on July 13.
Mayor Linda Gorton said the city is stronger when the community stands together.
“We all know that a safe city is always the foundation of a strong city,” Mayor Gorton said.
Lexington Police Chief Lawrence Weathers and Fayette County Sheriff Kathy Witt say this was more than a vigil; it was a call to action for the people of Lexington.
“This is about saving lives. We must step up and be heard,” said Weathers.
Officials with city law enforcement said they are committed to working alongside community members who want to be the change in their Lexington community.
