Dozens of TV shows, short films and epic movies have explored the four gospels of the Bible and the life of Jesus Christ. Joining pieces like 2004’s “The Passion of the Christ” is Angel Studios’ “Testament.”

The TV program is also utilizing the New Testament as a catalyst for compelling storytelling. However, unlike its predecessors, “Testament” is starting just a little bit later in the Bible, exploring the creation of Christianity and the dangers its early followers faced through a modern-day lens.

“For people who do not know the Bible and do not know the stories, it’s actually full of excitement, drama and thrills,” said Paul Syrstad, series creator and director. “There’s a reason why it’s called the greatest story ever told.”
