A zoo was forced to close due to a significant power cut.

Drusillas Park, near Alfriston, reported a power cut which impacted the whole site yesterday, July 23.

The zoo said it had to close the park due to this, however it is back open today, July 24.

The incident was believed to have been caused by a damaged power cable in the area.

A statement shared on its website reads: "Unfortunately we experienced a site-wide power cut this afternoon, due to a damaged power cable in the area, meaning we had to close Drusillas.

"Our power has now been restored and so we will be open as usual from Thursday, July 24.

"If you were at the park today (July 23), we’re so sorry this happened during your visit.
