ST. CLAIR COUNTY, Ill. – An arrest has been made in the shooting of an 11-year-old in Cahokia Heights.

The shooting occurred Monday around 3:30 p.m. in the 1600 block of Andrew Drive. The victim was riding a bicycle when they were shot.

The Major Case Squad of Greater St. Louis was activated a short time later to take over the investigation.

According to Captain Adam Connor, a spokesman for the Major Case Squad, 20 investigators have followed up on more than 75 leads.

On Wednesday, the St. Clair County State’s Attorney’s Office charged Jeremiah A. Johnson, 33, with aggravated battery, mob action, and obstructing justice. Johnson remains in custody at St. Clair County Jail.
