Former state Sen. Sonya Jaquez Lewis of Longmont has been charged with attempting to influence a public servant, a Class 4 felony.
Jaquez Lewis' next day in court is Aug. 7, according to the Denver District Attorney's office.
Jaquez Lewis resigned in February during an ethics investigation into alleged mistreatment of her legislative aides.
Her resignation came in the wake of allegations that she "fabricated" at least one letter of support from a former aide in her 17-page response to the ethics committee on Jan. 31. Questions were also raised about the authenticity of four other letters in support of her.
Five former aides filed a complaint through the Political Workers Guild in January.
