OWENSBORO, Ky. — GOP U.S. Senate candidate Daniel Cameron was in Owensboro for a meet-and-greet on Thursday, answering questions from voters ranging from Louisville changing its ICE detainer policy to Sen. Mitch McConnell's decision to buck President Donald Trump's cabinet nominations months ago.
"Louisville has relented on a sanctuary policy that they had on the books because this administration said, 'You need to comply with the law,'" Cameron, Kentucky's former attorney general, told a crowd of dozens of people in the Republican stronghold of Daviess County.
He looked to distinguish himself from McConnell, his longtime mentor, whose seat he’s trying to fill while also aligning himself closely with the President's priorities.
