The Seattle Mariners acquired first baseman Josh Naylor from the Arizona Diamondbacks on Thursday in exchange for left-handed pitcher Brandyn Garcia and right-hander Ashton Izzi.

The move gives Seattle an offensive upgrade at first base, where incumbent Luke Raley was hitting .220 with four homers and 18 RBIs.

After being traded from the Cleveland Guardians during the offseason with one year left on his contract, Naylor batted .292 with 11 home runs and 59 RBIs in 93 games for the Diamondbacks.

"We are thrilled to add Josh as we make a push for the postseason," Seattle general manager Justin Hollander said in a statement. "Josh's ability to hit for both average and power is unique and we are excited to not face him anymore."
