Emergency services have rushed to the M60 after a "police incident" forced a section of the motorway to shut.

The M60 anti-clockwise is closed between J12 M602 and J10 Trafford Park, in Manchester, and the clockwise carriageway between J10 and J11 has also been shut.

Anti-clockwise diversion in place

National Highways said traffic from the anti-clockwise section of the M60 was being diverted vis thr hallow circle symbol on road signs.

Exit the M60 anti-clockwise at J12 and keep left to join the M602 eastbound

Exit the M602 at the next junction and take the 3rd exit at the roundabout onto the A576 southbound

Remain on the A576 for approximately 2 mile
